This event takes place once each semester in collaboration with nearby schools to maintain a lasting relationship with schools in the area. We will collaborate with Black Student Organizations from other schools in the area to network with other students that are nearby. Fall semester 2022 we included 3 other schools: Babson College, Wellesley College, and Lasell University. This semester, Spring 2023 we have expanded and now have 9 other schools collaborating with this event. These schools include: Bentley University, Wellesley College, Babson College, Lasell University, Boston College, Simmons University, UMASS Lowell, UMASS Boston, and Framingham State University. This will be a great way to not only get the new first year Brandeis Students to get acquainted with each other but also to make current students more familiar with one another. Students will answer icebreaker questions with many different people they may not know or even be presented with an opportunity to meet. The event will also help students become more familiar with our club members and could open up opportunities for other clubs to potentially collaborate with us in the future, making Brandeis feel like a more inclusive environment for all students, especially BIPOC students. Exposing the Brandeis community to students from other schools optimizes networking for projects, academic performance, internships, and jobs as well as allowing students to expand social connections.
