About Us

Effective Altruism is a philosophical principle and a social movement that advocates "using evidence and reason to figure out how to benefit others as much as possible, and taking action on that basis." The goal of Brandeis Effective Altruism is to introduce students to the ideas of Effective Altruism, encourage students to reflect on how to have the greatest positive impact, allow them to discuss Effective Altruism with other interested students, and connect them to the larger Effective Altruism community and career network. In addition to other activities, each semester Brandeis Effective Altruism will run an introductory fellowship - a reading and discussion group focused on the basic ideas of Effective Altruism.
